The figures produced by this calculator are gross estimates based on published HMRC rates and on the earnings you enter. They are not financial advice, employment advice or a substitute for either. No relationship of adviser and client is created by using this site.

What the estimate depends on

Your actual maternity pay turns on things this tool does not check: whether you have 26 weeks of continuous employment up to the qualifying week, exactly which eight weeks make up your average weekly earnings, what your contract says about any occupational scheme, and the tax and National Insurance that will be deducted. A figure produced here can be arithmetically correct and still not be what lands in your account. The limits are set out in full on the methodology page, and you should read them before relying on anything here.

Accuracy

Rates are checked against GOV.UK and carry the date they were verified. Even so, statutory rates change every April, guidance is republished and errors happen. No warranty is given that the figures are current or correct at the moment you read them. Your employer and HMRC are the authoritative sources for what you are owed.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from use of this site or reliance on its output, including any financial decision taken on the strength of an estimate shown here. Maternity leave is a significant financial event and the figures on this site should be confirmed with your employer before you commit to anything.

Nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
